Kaillie Humphries is a decorated bobsledder who has achieved remarkable success representing both Canada and the United States. Born in Calgary, Alberta, she began her athletic career as a ski racer before transitioning to bobsled following an injury. Humphries made history by winning back-to-back gold medals in the two-woman Bobsled at the Olympic Winter Games Vancouver 2010 and Olympic Winter Games Sochi 2014, becoming the first female Bobsledder to defend her Olympic title. She added a bronze medal at the Olympic Winter Games Pyeong Chang 2018.
In 2019, Humphries switched her sporting allegiance to the United States and gained U.S. citizenship in December of 2021. Competing for Team USA, she won gold in the monobob event at the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, marking the event’s Olympic debut. Throughout her career, Humphries has secured multiple world championship titles, solidifying her status as one of the sport’s greats.
Off the ice, Humphries is a vocal advocate for athlete safety and women’s rights in sports through organizations like the TrailBlazeHer Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to empowering young women through sports and education. She has shared her personal experiences to raise awareness about fertility challenges faced by female athletes, discussing her struggles with endometriosis and in vitro fertilization while competing. Her openness aims to support and empower other women navigating similar challenges. She gave birth to her son, Aulden, in June 2024.
