Product safety is important to consumers. Modernization and innovation improve products and services for consumers and in many cases, makes products and services safer. Yet today, government action makes safety secondary to satisfying the demands of green activists and others seeking to protect their economic interests by using regulation.  Policymakers are increasingly considering regressive policies that would make products, foods, cosmetics, and many pharmaceuticals less safe, harder to find on store shelves, and more expensive. That’s the wrong direction for consumers and our country.
