WASHINGTON, D.C. — Overnight, Russia launched one of its largest attacks on Kyiv since the start of its full-scale invasion, sending waves of missiles and drones against the Ukrainian capital. Independent Women condemns the strikes as 20 civilians have been reportedly killed with scores wounded.

Dr. Meaghan Mobbs, director of Independent Women’s Center for America Safety and Security, said:

“Kyiv woke again beneath smoke and fire, with civilians pulled from the rubble after another deliberate Russian assault. At our Russia Reality conference, we made clear that Russia is not a misunderstood power seeking accommodation. Russia is an adversary. Its brutality is not incidental to this war; it is central to how Moscow wages one.

“We cannot be silent in the face of this kind of evil. America and the free world must speak with moral clarity and act with strength. This war must end, but it will not end through weakness, wishful thinking, or concessions that reward aggression. It must end through strength, with Ukraine able to defend itself, protect its people, and negotiate from a position that denies Russia the victory it seeks.

“Peace is the objective. But peace without strength is not peace. It is only an invitation for the next war. If we want this war to end, we must be clear about who started it, who continues it, and what is required to stop it.”

The attack follows the Center for American Safety and Security’s recent Russia Reality conference in Washington, D.C., which brought together national security leaders, lawmakers, policy experts, journalists, and practitioners to examine the nature of the Russian threat to the United States, Ukraine, Europe, and the free world.

The conference made clear that Russia’s war against Ukraine cannot be understood as a distant regional conflict. It is part of a larger pattern of Russian aggression, coercion, information warfare, and hostility toward American interests and Western civilization.

Russia’s continued attacks on civilian centers underscore the urgent need for the United States and its allies to provide Ukraine with the air defense, interceptors, long-range capabilities, sanctions enforcement, and sustained political backing necessary to impose costs on Moscow and protect innocent life.
