WASHINGTON, D.C. — Independent Women’s 19th Awards Gala will spotlight one of the most influential and formidable women in American politics today: Susie Wiles.

On Thursday, May 7, at the Waldorf Astoria in Washington, D.C., Independent Women will present its prestigious Barbara K. Olson Woman of Valor Award to Wiles, Chief of Staff to President Donald J. Trump—a brilliant strategist and leader driving results at the highest levels of government.

Widely regarded as one of the most effective political operatives in the country, Wiles has more than four decades of experience shaping winning campaigns and advancing policy. In her current role, she is the engine behind White House operations, ensuring that President Trump’s agenda is not only advanced but executed. Known for her discipline, toughness, and strategic precision, Wiles has built a reputation for turning vision into action—and for making sure promises to the American people are kept.

Yet Wiles is equally known for staying out of the spotlight, focusing instead on the work. A devoted mother of two daughters and the daughter of legendary NFL broadcaster Pat Summerall, she embodies both strength in leadership and commitment to family.

The Woman of Valor Award is given in memory of Barbara K. Olson, a founder of Independent Women who perished in the September 11th attack on the Pentagon, to honor women who, through courage and commitment, help advance the principles of economic liberty, personal responsibility, and political freedom. These women exemplify the promise of true feminism and accomplish great, important things.

“Suse Wiles is truly an inspiration. A powerhouse of getting work done. A force for making America’s future days bright,” said Carrie Lukas, president of Independent Women. “Wiles was instrumental in securing President Trump’s victory and continues to keep the administration laser-focused on delivering results. Her impact is enormous—even if she rarely seeks the credit—and that’s exactly why it’s so meaningful to honor her.”

Past Barbara K. Olson Woman of Valor Award honorees include Miranda Devine, Kimberley Strassel, Janice Dean, Maria Bartiromo, Betsy DeVos, Nikki Haley, Kellyanne Conway, Carly Fiorina, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, and Condoleezza Rice, among others.

Since its founding in 1992, Independent Women’s unique, persuasive methods and trusted brand shape public preferences, policies, and movements to create a better future for everyone.
