“Never fall for the trap that you can’t make it work, or that it’s just impossible to have both a family and a career”

WASHINGTON, D.C. — By day, Isabel Brown hosts her popular podcast, “The Isabel Brown Show,” with The Daily Wire and shares her insight on culture and politics with her more than 1 million followers in her mission “seeking truth to save the West.” By night, she’s waking up at all hours with her most important follower: her young daughter, Isla.

In a new article in its “Champion Women” series, Independent Women’s Features (IW Features), the grassroots storytelling and original journalism arm of Independent Women, highlights Brown’s balance of motherhood, marriage, faith, and career while advocating for her generation to embrace family and purpose.

Addressing Gen Z directly, Brown critiques modern dating culture and the growing fear of parenthood, encouraging young women to be intentional about marriage and family despite cultural pressures. She credits her Christian faith — and a renewed connection to Catholicism — as the foundation for her worldview and her hope for a generational return to faith, femininity, and strong families.

Before her current roles as podcast host, wife, and mother, Brown got her start in the politics and culture world working for Turning Point USA, where she met her husband, Brock Belcher. She also has a master’s degree in biomedical sciences policy and advocacy and is studying theology at Notre Dame.

For Brown, making a lasting impact through career and family is not an either/or decision.

“Never fall for the trap that you can’t make it work, or that it’s just impossible to have both a family and a career,” Brown told IW Features.

“If I’ve learned anything since having my beautiful daughter, Isla, there is never a good time or a perfect time to have a baby,” Brown said. “You will never 100% feel qualified or ready for the challenge of raising another human soul.”

While the majority of young adults still want to get married and start a family, they’re putting it off longer than ever. Women now spend 10 years on average dating—the “dating decade”—according to a new report from Independent Women. “The Dating Decade: Hooking Up, Hanging Out, and Swiping Right,” features original national polling that reveals a widening gap between what young adults say they want in their personal lives and what today’s dating culture actually delivers.

Outside of the cultural pressures influencing young adults’ views on having children, even more young adults cite the fear of not being a good parent as their reason for not starting a family. In fact, among those who do not want kids, nearly one in three echo this as their primary reason, according to new polling data from Independent Women.

Brown’s own experience shows that this fear shouldn’t deter her generation from starting families, and she is confident that Gen Z will be the generation of young people, especially women, who will change this trajectory.

“I think the next several generations of America are going to look more prosperous, more joyful, and more intentional than maybe any other time in the last several generations,” Brown told IW Features.
