WASHINGTON, D.C. — Independent Women’s Center for American Safety and Security issued the following statements supporting Iranians who are willing to fight for their own freedom, with women leading the charge.
Meaghan Mobbs, director of Independent Women’s Center for American Safety and Security, said:
“From the tragic death of Mahsa Amini to the now-viral image of a young woman lighting her cigarette on a burning portrait of the Ayatollah – and the protester who declared she is not afraid because she has already been dead for 47 years – Iranian women are not merely resisting. They are igniting the courage of a nation. These acts of defiance, breaking taboos and challenging authority in the most symbolic ways, have become the sparks of a broader yearning for liberty.
“As President Trump recognized, ‘Iran is looking at freedom, perhaps like never before. The USA stands ready to help.’
“In Iran’s struggle for dignity and human rights, women are lighting the way forward and their bravery is a beacon to all who yearn to be free.”
Dr. Qanta Ahmed, senior fellow with Independent Women, said:
“As Senior Fellow at the Independent Women’s Forum, and as an American Muslim woman, I stand with the Iranian people in their courageous defiance of the most brutal Islamist tyranny the world has known, one which – in its final hour-continues to murder suffocate, maim and erase the noble Iranian people by the thousands.
“In 1975, I visited Iran-before it would be shrouded by the revolution- welcomed by the kindness and dignity of ordinary Iranians.
“I support President Trump in every and all actions of reprisal, retribution and penalty as the Iranian people finally liberate themselves from the Ayatollah’s callous regime. God Bless our President, God Bless America and Godspeed to the Iranian people.”
Ellie Cohanim, senior fellow with Independent Women and Iranian refugee, said:
“As the brave people of Iran take to their streets to reclaim their country from the despotic Ayatollah Regime which grabbed power in 1979, I stand with my former countrymen and am grateful to President Donald J. Trump for being the first American president to support the aspirations of the Iranian people for freedom. President Trump has warned the Islamic Regime of the consequences they will face if they kill protestors. I believe that soon this Regime will understand the strength of the United States under President Trump! ”
