WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) received an overwhelming response of more than 12,000 public comments on the harms of so-called “gender-affirming care” for minors. Independent Women alone mobilized 2,000 citizens—representing 15% of the total—through its regulatory comment drive, Say NO to Mutilation: Abolish Medical Transition Abuse for Minors

Launched on August 8, Independent Women activated its network to submit powerful, personal testimonies exposing the deceptive medical practices targeting children.

“Doctors are selling patients snake oil—no human can change sex,” said Independent Women ambassador and detransitioner Prisha Mosley. “This is about as unfair and deceptive as it gets.”

The FTC’s request for public input comes on the heels of a July workshop, The Dangers of Gender-Affirming Care for Minors, where Mosley joined medical professionals, whistleblowers, and fellow detransitioners—including Soren Aldaco, Claire Abernathy, Cat Cattinson, and Chloe Cole,—to shed light on the serious risks and false claims regarding experimental gender procedures on children.

Independent Women has elevated the stories of detransitioners and the medical fraud they endured since 2022 through “Identity Crisis,” the exclusive docu-series produced by Independent Women’s Features (IW Features), the grassroots storytelling and journalism arm of Independent Women.

Mosley penned an op-ed for Fox News about the FTC’s investigation into the pediatric gender medicine industry:

“[B]eyond ideology, there is a financial motive. For the rest of my life, I will be forced to pay the same medical establishment that harmed me in order to deal with the side effects that they caused me in the name of ‘care.’ Meanwhile, for those doctors and surgeons, my case is a double profit: charge patients for hormones and surgeries and then charge patients again to manage whatever injuries those hormones and surgeries caused. This is essentially the gender industry’s business model, one that rakes in cash for hospitals and pharma while destroying our bodies in the process. This cannot be left to stand.

Thankfully, the FTC is standing up for us — and all the Americans who could get trapped by the medical industry as I did. It is deceit when doctors call this butchery ‘care,’ and they should not be able to get away with it.”

In a piece for IW Features that kicked off the comment drive campaign, Prisha Mosley, Soren Aldaco, and Claire Abernathy, detransitioners and ambassadors for Independent Women, wrote in part:

“At the end of the day, no human being can change sex. It’s time that Americans who have been affected by this medical fraud speak out to those who will listen at the FTC and help put an end to this barbarity, once and for all.”

A few of the personal testimonies from the 2,000 comments driven by Independent Women:

“Gender transition procedures—including puberty blockers, hormones, and surgeries—are neither safe nor effective. The surgeries done in the name of gender transition are almost always irreversible, and puberty blockers and hormones can lead to serious, lifelong complications up to and including sterility, even after patients discontinue them. The Federal Trade Commission must hold accountable those who mislead families and abuse kids. I urge you to call this practice what it is—a dangerous deception—and act quickly to protect our children from it.” – Michael F.

“It may be too late for my son since he is already 25. But I know that he was influenced online and since he is over 19, he can likely get treatment if he desires… It was during this time between 2020-2022 when he came out to me as transgender. I knew it was wrong – his oncologists agreed with me – he had experienced trauma and struggled to connect with his body. Gender identity and powerful online influences were there all along and now he is convinced there is such a thing as “true trans”. There is not… It may be too late for him, but the FTC can spare other kids and vulnerable young people from harm.” – Denise M.

“I’m glad that the FTC is investigating the practice of ‘sex change’ treatments performed on minors. A vulnerable population is being targeted with procedures that on face are barbaric. It is no exaggeration to say that children are being led toward an unreachable goal of ‘sex change’ through chemical castration and bodily mutilation. There is no sugar-coating what’s going on here. Psychological issues are being treated with drugs and scalpels. We are inflicting lifelong wounds on our young in a mistaken notion of compassion.” – Edward V.

“Thank you for investigating the horrors being committed against children and minors under the guise of ‘gender affirming care.’ These barbaric practices have risen to Nuremberg levels. My husband has been battling stage 4 prostate cancer, and to give these same drugs to and perform surgeries on children with no physical disease is cruel and evil. Please make it stop.” – Valerie S.

Momentum is also building in Congress. Earlier this month, lawmakers introduced The Chloe Cole Act, legislation to end child mutilation once and for all, while honoring those who have been betrayed by this pervasive ideology. On September 18, Independent Women submitted a formal letter in support of the Chloe Cole Act to protect children from gender mutilation, writing in part: “Children must be protected from aggressive, experimental procedures that inflict permanent, life-altering harm. This bill is a necessary measure to safeguard the health, safety, and future of our children.”

Independent Women will continue to mobilize Americans, publish research and resources, and amplify the voices of detransitions and their parents until children are fully protected from medical exploitation.
