Refusing to Back Down to Those Who Betrayed Her

GASTONIA, NC — Today, Independent Women announced that detransitioner and Independent Women ambassador Prisha Mosley has filed an appeal in the case against her healthcare providers who severely damaged her body as a vulnerable teen with mental health issues. Doctors and counselors set Mosley on a path of medicalized “gender transition.” The lawsuit includes claims for medical malpractice, negligence, and fraud.

On X, Prisha Mosley stated, “The biggest lie … is that my lawsuit is ‘over.’ That isn’t true in the least. I’m appealing.” In another post on X, Mosley shared:

Mosley is one of the most widely known advocates for truth—revealing the harm done by doctors she trusted to take care of her and fighting to put an end to the chemical and surgical mutilation of minors. Mosley not only reaches millions online through social media and in the media but also has appeared before lawmakers across the country.

“I have shared my story, to warn others about what is happening in America,” Mosley said about her advocacy. “I’ve been lied to and misled in the worst possible way. This ‘gender-affirming care’ was anything but. Instead of addressing my severe mental health issues and helping me feel comfortable in my feminine body, my doctors and counselors pushed me into the belief that damaging my body was the answer. It was not the answer. Their “care” – in the form of testosterone injections and breast surgery – left me broken, with extreme physical injuries and without my body parts. It did not cure my mental health problems and instead made them worse.”

Mosley’s story was first documented by Independent Women’s Features (IW Features), the grassroots storytelling and original journalism arm of Independent Women, in its “Identity Crisis” series. Mosley, who was a mentally ill teen betrayed by health professionals who recommended testosterone and “top surgery,” detailed her harrowing experience to IW Features. Just a couple of years later, Mosley shared her difficult and unexpected pregnancy journey, where she found herself the subject of yet another medical experiment.

First launched in 2022, “Identity Crisis” amplifies firsthand accounts from detransitioners and their parents—voices the mainstream media too often discount, dismiss, and ignore. IW Features continues to shed light on the crippling dangers of gender ideology and its toll on America’s youth with continual new stories.

To further expose and elevate the harmful effects and false claims regarding so-called “gender-affirming care”, Independent Women launched the Protect Minors from “Gender-Affirming” Abuse comment drive last month to mobilize the public to tell their personal stories of harm and demand the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to crack down on the deceptive medical practices targeting children.

In the wake of its July 9 workshop, “The Dangers of Gender-Affirming Care for Minors,” the FTC is currently seeking personal testimonies from minors, parents, and others who may have been misled by false or incomplete claims about these interventions and assessing the harm as a result.

Independent Women’s Protect Minors from “Gender-Affirming” Abuse comment drive is open through September 26, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. EDT. All submitted comments will be sent directly to the FTC regulations.gov docket [FTC-2025-0264].

Background on Prisha Mosley’s lawsuit:

  • Mosley filed her lawsuit in July 2023 against multiple healthcare providers for medical malpractice related to gender transition treatments she underwent as a minor and young adult.
  • While part of Mosley’s lawsuit in May 2024 was cleared to proceed, her full case involving medical malpractice could not. The judge dismissed Mosley’s malpractice claims under North Carolina’s prior statute of limitations.
  • In August 2025, Mosley’s lawyers filed a motion to reinstate malpractice claims and proceed with the full original case.
