“We strongly support this Executive Order as a critical step toward restoring deterrence, protecting victims, and upholding the principle that law and order are the foundation of liberty.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Independent Women issued the following statement in response to President Trump’s decisive action to crack down on cashless bail.

Meaghan Mobbs, director of Independent Women’s Center for American Safety and Security, said:

“The Center for American Safety and Security applauds today’s Executive Order to restore accountability and common sense to America’s bail system. Cashless bail, sold as ‘reform,’ has too often meant that violent offenders are released back into communities without consequence undermining public safety, straining law enforcement, and eroding public trust in the rule of law.

“America’s justice system must protect law-abiding citizens first. A bail system that imposes meaningful accountability is not about punishing poverty – it is about deterring repeat offenses, ensuring defendants return to court, and maintaining the integrity of our legal order. Eliminating cash bail without safeguards creates a revolving door of crime that burdens victims and law enforcement alike.

“We strongly support this Executive Order as a critical step toward restoring deterrence, protecting victims, and upholding the principle that law and order are the foundation of liberty.”

Beth Parlato, senior legal advisor for Independent Women’s Law Center, said:

“The Independent Women’s Law Center strongly supports President Trump’s executive order to end cashless bail in Washington, D.C. and in other jurisdictions that have cashless bail policies. Such reckless bail policies allow repeat offenders, including those accused of violent and sexual crimes, to return to the streets within hours of arrest, placing the public at continued risk. Women are disproportionately affected, and their safety must be prioritized. The wellbeing of our communities is non-negotiable, and ending such irresponsible policies is a necessary step in restoring law and order.”
