WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Independent Women released the following statement regarding the U.S. Supreme Court decision to allow the Trump administration to proceed in reducing the bureaucracy within the Department of Education.
Beth Parlato, Independent Women’s Law Center senior legal advisor, said: “I commend the Supreme Court’s decision to lift the injunction against the Department of Education’s staff reductions, reaffirming the constitutional principle that the President, as head of the Executive Branch, holds authority over agency staffing and administrative organization. Education policy should be driven by parents, teachers and local communities, not by D.C. bureaucrats, and the SCOTUS ruling is a critical step in shifting away from federal overreach and toward local authority. The dissent has it wrong, as usual. This has nothing to do with dismantling education and everything to do with dismantling bureaucracy.”
A legal victory for the Trump administration, the ruling clears the path for the process of shrinking the federal role in education, thereby restoring state autonomy, parental control, and efficiency.
