“This is the greatest medical scandal of our lifetimes. Doctors are selling patients snake oil—no human can change sex.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Independent Women ambassador and detransitioner Prisha Mosley shared her story at a Federal Trade Commission (FTC) workshop titled “The Dangers of ‘Gender-Affirming Care’ for Minors,” held in Washington, D.C. The workshop included medical professionals, whistleblowers, and detransitioners, all of whom offered perspectives on the physical, emotional, and psychological harms associated with gender ideology and medical interventions. The discussion underscored the significance of the Trump administration’s recent executive order aimed at ending chemical and surgical mutilation of minors, and restricting federal funding, sponsorship, assistance, or facilitation of such procedures.
The workshop aimed to shed light on the serious risks and false claims regarding so-called “gender-affirming care” and its harmful effects on consumers—particularly children. Under section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act, which prohibits “unfair or deceptive acts and practices” in commerce, the FTC has broad authority to take appropriate action against violators—including medical professionals or others who have misled patients about the risks of pursuing gender medical treatments, including puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries intended to make the body appear like the opposite sex.

“I’m grateful to have been given the opportunity to speak with the FTC about the fraudulent nature of trans medical abuse,” Prisha Mosley said. “This is the greatest medical scandal of our lifetimes. Doctors are selling patients snake oil—no human can change sex.”
Several other detransitioners and medical professionals featured in “Identity Crisis”—the exclusive docu-series produced by Independent Women Features (IW Features), the grassroots storytelling and journalism arm of Independent Women—joined Mosley in Washington, D.C. Participants included Soren Aldaco, Claire Abernathy, Cat Cattinson, Chloe Cole, and Miriam Grossman, MD.
Andrew N. Ferguson, Chairman of the Federal Trade Commission, said during the workshop: “While not everyone who undergoes gender-affirming care will necessarily experience the same painful loss and regret that Prisha, Claire, and Soren have experienced, every young boy and girl, every concerned parent and guardian has the right to be informed of all the material information about the risks of these procedures. I promise that our agency will do everything in its power to achieve that end. Finally, a brief note on what comes next. Following the conclusion of today’s workshop, the Commission will issue a public request for information on the various topics that we are discussing today. We will issue it sometime next week after we have had time to digest everything we learned today and can tailor our request for information based on what we learned. The public will have 60 days to respond to that request, and I encourage every single person here to submit a response. We will also provide a mechanism for individual members of the public to submit information they wish the Commission to keep confidential.”
During the workshop, the Justice Department Chief of Staff Chad Mizelle announced that the DOJ has issued nearly two dozen subpoenas to doctors and clinics involved in performing gender medical procedures on minors—investigating healthcare fraud and false statements. The DOJ is seeking more stories like those told in IW Features’ “Identity Crisis” series.

More About Prisha Mosley’s Story
Mosley, one of the most prominent and influential detransitioner voices in the country, experienced firsthand the harms of so-called “gender-affirming care.” She holds her medical providers responsible for her ongoing health issues, believing they misled her into thinking medical transition would resolve her mental health struggles—only for it to worsen them. Today, Mosley travels the country warning parents and young people about the dangers of gender ideology and the profit-driven rush to medicalize vulnerable patients.
At just seventeen years old, Mosley started testosterone injections and eventually underwent a double mastectomy. She first shared her story in “Identity Crisis.” More recently, IW Features broke Mosley’s unexpected and painful pregnancy story when she found herself the subject of yet another medical experiment.
