WASHINGTON D.C. — Today, Independent Women recognizes President Donald Trump’s efforts to restore the rule of law and make America safe again after deporting hundreds of criminal Venezuelan migrants to El Salvador over the past weekend.
Meaghan Mobbs, Director of Independent Women’s Center for American Safety and Security, said: “President Trump’s decisive crackdown on violent illegal gang members represents a critical shift toward prioritizing the safety of American citizens. For too long, weak border policies and incentives for illegal immigration have exposed communities to dangerous criminals who exploit systemic vulnerabilities. By deporting known gang affiliates, including MS-13 members, the administration has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to law and order.
“The American people have made their stance clear: securing our borders is not just a policy preference but a national imperative. The administration’s actions—resuming border wall construction, increasing troop deployments, deportation flights, and closing loopholes that enable illegal crossings—underscore a resolute dedication to protecting American families.
“Furthermore, the administration’s collaboration with international partners, exemplified by El Salvador’s acceptance of deported gang members, highlights a unified effort to dismantle criminal networks that threaten public safety. This comprehensive approach ensures that those who sought to exploit previous policy weaknesses are held accountable, reaffirming the nation’s resolve to protect its citizens.”
Beth Parlato, Senior Legal Advisor of Independent Women’s Law Center, said: “President Trump is putting the safety of the American people first. Tren de Aragua gang members, allowed to enter illegally under Biden’s disastrous open border policy, wreaked havoc in our country as dangerous murderers, rapists, and sex traffickers. Deporting violent criminal illegal aliens is not only within the rule of law, it is required. It’s unconscionable that a partisan judge tried to stop these deportations; fortunately we now have a DOJ that will fight for America’s borders.”

- Independent Women Voice sent a letter to members of Congress on January 7 expressing its support for the Laken Riley Act, also known as H.R. 29. Laken Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student, was out for a run when she was brutally killed by Jose Ibarra, an illegal immigrant from Venezuela with a well-documented criminal history.
- Last year, Mobbs visited the southern border, where she spoke with border patrol agents and locals at the epicenter of the migrant crisis and witnessed the devastating impacts of an insecure border firsthand.
- CASS has developed a comprehensive policy focus to help lawmakers address the border crisis.
- IW Features exposed the dangerous fallout of the unprecedented border crisis in an exclusive documentary, “Brooklyn’s Border Crisis: Male Migrant Shelter Opens Steps From a Children’s School,” as told by Irina Edelstein, the Brooklyn chapter leader of IW’s national grassroots membership arm, Independent Women’s Network. Edelstein, an immigrant herself, joined Dr. Phil Primetime to break her silence on how the illegal migrant influx threatens the safety of communities nationwide.
- CASS developed a “Two Truths and a Lie” resource to promote public education on border security.
- On 9/11 last year, Mobbs wrote an op-ed on the importance of border security for ensuring public safety.
